FILM IS WOMAN
How beautiful it is to watch the human body in all its naturalness. Skin, veins, muscles, bones, joints, wrinkles, the bare essence of humanness.
Tropfen titschen, Bild: titscht ins Licht. Hals, Hand, An, Aus, IKONE. Hörbares Atmen wie unter Maske. Haut ins Licht gehalten, wo ist oben? Arme, Schlüsselbein, Kopf, sehnige Hände. Ein Top einer Frau. Der Sound macht „Hoooo“, sie ist jetzt von vorn zu sehen, kühl beleuchtet, im Unterhemd. Grün: blink, rot, blink, blau. Odile reglos, Knie angewinkelt. Schatten des Körpers am Körper. Knochen, Wangenknochen, Nase.
So strong in the visual apperance with the light and her light skin in contrast to the darkness surrounding her. Like black and white photography.
Almost coming to life! This contrast of black and white created a sense of an infinite space around her, and her body seemed to be almost suspended in time.
Not real, detached from a reality we know – almost a myth?
Having no weight, not being driven by gravity. Like a projection, but being a body.
A mixture of real and unreal, as the body seemed to be floating in an unreal sense but the skin and veins and muscles seemed like a mirror of reality.

WHAT’S IN A FILM?
And the materialities of glass, water, light and room define the body and let it become real.
Oh my god, yes! I felt a beautifully creative use of multimedia as well. Creating startling, surprising elements of using glass, water and light along with how the camera framed the body.
Odile näher an der Kamera, Mund auf, haucht uns an, ins Auge. Die Scheibe beschlägt an der Stelle. Der Bildschirm, von innen. Die Frau wird unscharf. Verzwirbelt sich, verdreht.
Und spricht so die Kamera an.
Aber nicht als Opfer oder Verfolgte, sondern eher als Partnerin oder jemand, die nur existiert, wenn dieses Kameraauge ihr Licht und Existenz gibt.
Ja, gegenseitiges Existenz-Kreieren, auf Augenhöhe (!), sich sichtbar machen durch Andere(s).

ONE BODY
The sounds and rhythms used created an image in the mind of how the inner workings of the body would sound like if we could hear them. The cracking of joints, blood flowing, fluids secreting, muscles contracting – I do not even have the knowledge to know all these workings, but I felt like I could hear them while watching the body move.
Interesting that you heard them as inner sounds. So proving that this work on images is not only about surfaces. Hm. I thought the sounds were kitchen and sink sound, every day life.
Precise work of movement and sound perfectly synchronised.
